Dining Decor: Easter Bunny Approved

I think it might be safe to say, as we head towards Easter, that spring is finally here. The grass is getting greener, buds are appearing on the trees and daylight is lingering longer. One of the best parts of this time of year is when we can finally open the windows and let the fresh spring air into our homes. This month, I let it drift right over to my dining table, and created a flower power look worthy of the Easter Bunny’s approval.

Easter is a time usually spent with family, celebrating the end of the Lenten season, the start of spring and the joys of food. Growing up, our Easter focus was always on a great brunch. That typically meant donning your Sunday best, Easter bonnet included, and enjoying a scrumptious brunch buffet. This year, I decided to recreate, in my own home, the magic of those childhood Easter’s I remember so fondly. That included fun colors, eggs as a centerpiece and a special memento from my Grandma, who I lost earlier this year.Sarah In Style, Dining Decor, Tablescapes, Tablescape, Spring Table, Easter Table, Easter Brunch Ideas, Spring Decorating, Sarah Meyer, Target Home, Cheap Holiday Decorating, Let's Brunch, Easy Table Decorating, Table Setting TipsWhen I was little I had a fascination with my Grandma’s ‘Graces’ book. It sat in her kitchen and I would always thumb through it, reading the beautiful poems and blessings. I think it was probably always special because in my family we have always said Grace before our meals. My grandparents even had a special ending to the dinner blessing, that has stuck with us all to this day. It’s meaningful throughout the year, but seems even more so around Easter. In 1997 (as my Grandma inscribed inside) she made me “keeper of the book.” When I read her note as I was setting this table I shed a tear (who am I kidding, I shed several) thinking about all of the past Easter’s I have celebrated. The book was the perfect addition to the table that I know my Grandma would have loved to be a guest at.

As in typical fashion with most of my other Dining Decor posts, I put this tablescape together without breaking the bank – not even the piggy one! It cost me a whopping $35 for the new pieces I bought. While I already owned the porcelain plates, napkin rings and placemats, I found the colorful flower plates, dainty napkins and centerpiece items at a store most of us would call our love, and our demise. You guessed it, Target! I really can’t walk into that store without coming home with at least 5 things I do not need. But, these new goodies will make my table look good for many meals to come, so they were worth it! I also did some DIY work to get the exact look I wanted. The floral centerpiece was actually two wreaths that I attached together with a pink silk ribbon. I definitely achieved the look I was hoping for. Perfect for a festive Easter celebration!
