CFDA Awards 2019: Best of the Best (Dressed)

Most red carpets are already oozing with glitz and glamour, and of course the most amazing fashions. When you put all of the best fashion designers on the red carpet, with their muses walking in their looks, you can only imagine that the red carpet is truly going to be the best of the best. This proved true for this years CFDA Awards! [Even the carpet itself was beautiful.]

If you have not heard of CFDA, it stands for the Council of Fashion Designers of America. You can think of it like an elite club for the top fashion, jewelry and accessory designers. It’s been around since 1962 and currently has about 500 members. (See the pretty cool list of board members here.) The CFDA’s stated mission is “to strengthen the influence and success of American designers in the global economy.” They basically foster the industry as a whole, and help up and coming designers make their names known in the fashion world. The awards ceremony (which was held on June 3) honors the fashion industry (Barbie -yes the doll- was honored this year) as well as CFDA members.

As you take a look at my picks for best dressed, remember, this is not a typical “red carpet” event with big, glitzy gowns, it’s a fashion event, so the looks are either edgier than normal or a little more understated.
