I love so many things about the summer months. Constant sunshine, hot days and warm nights, and outdoor activities galore, to name a few. Possibly my favorite thing about summer – dresses. It sounds so simple, and it is, and that’s what I love about dresses. I could live in them year round, and try to, no matter the climate I am in. It’s a guarantee when I put a dress on that it will keep me cool in the summer, and I can look as casual or dressed up as I want – with one single piece of clothing – which makes getting dressed so simple. There’s that word again, that’s why dresses are my top simple summer staple.

       

Now when you can find a dress that is the perfect material, the perfect length, the perfect color – you’ve hit the dress jackpot. That’s what I love about this green and white striped number from ABLE. It’s soft, well made, hits below the knee so you never have to worry about wind, and even has an invisible button to help gapping in the chest area. The color is soft and muted, but neutral enough to wear with silver or gold accessories. I have donned sneakers and sandals while wearing it, and both look great. I know, it’s a lot of praise for a dress, and that may seem trivial, especially for my non-fashionistas, but it seems more and more women these days want classic pieces they know they can wear over and over, for years, and they will never go out of style. This dress – it’s one of those pieces.

Of course, in the summer, as I head from the beach to the boat or to brunch, I need a tote that can fit all my essentials and a buttery brown leather is the perfect color to go with so many looks. It will transition beautifully into the fall months and work well in spring too. A chic tote bag you can use for multiple activites – another simple staple to have. The lesson here is simply (see what I did there) that fashion doesn’t have to be fussy. You can still be chic and represent your personal style by wearing the simplest pieces!
