The weather may be getting chillier (at least in most parts of the world), but in my heart (and dreams) it’s always warm and always the right time to rock palm print. Fashion is really an extension of our moods/feelings. While we often dress to match those moods, we can also dress to set the mood. In times of chaos, turmoil, sadness or just grey skies, you can brighten and lighten just by choosing the right clothing. For me, putting on palm print always does just that! It transports me to the happiest of places mentally, even if I am in the gloomiest of places physically.
The key here is to remember that it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Your whole outfit doesn’t have to match the mood you are aiming to be in. Maybe it’s a glum winter day and you need a spark of joy. You could pair black jeans with a colorful sweater, or maybe put pair palm tree earrings and colorful sunglasses with your dark colored coat. Little bits of happiness in our wardrobes can bring big bits of happiness to our days!
I also advice not always following the fashion rules you have grown up with. Whoever said you can’t wear white after labor day was just a Debbie Downer. You can wear what you want, when you want, you just have to pair it with seasonally appropriate pieces. This might mean you don’t wear a pink floral dress with sandals in the middle of fall – but, you could pair that floral dress with knee-high boots and a motorcycle jacket. You’ll have achieved your “happy look,” that works when you want it to. Instant mood booster don’t you agree! Plus, it helps extend your wardrobe into all seasons of the year.
As I always say, fashion should be fun. It’s an extension of you, so make it set the mood you want. Bold and bright, quiet and dark, whatever you feel, or want to feel, make it happen with your outfit.
