Watching the 2021 Academy Awards (aka Oscars) and the preceding red carpet, there was a surreal sense of normalcy again. We finally saw people (safely) in a room together. We saw people dress up in their finest fashions and jewels. We saw a live celebration for the films that entertained us and got us through this past year during the pandemic, when an escape from reality was needed more than ever, and we had more hours to indulge in screen time. While the show wasn’t the best productions, or as exhilarating as it has been in years past, and the red carpet was more sparse, it was still nice to have a return to the way things (sort of) were. Talk of the nominees and acceptance speeches were more heartfelt, a thing I think we will continue to see more of as we work our way out of this crazy year. I also think we will continue to see people putting their best foot forward, a foot (and leg) not clad in sneakers and sweat pants. So, with that, here is my list for best dressed at the 2021 Oscars.
