Fully Into Fall Fashion: Breaking All The Rules

I have always balked at fashion rules, especially ones relating to the seasons. Okay, sure, I don’t think it’s a great look to wear shorts in the middle of winter, or sandals when your toesies risk frostbite, but abiding by silly rules, such as “no white after labor day,” or “you can’t wear thin material in cold weather.” No way! Afterall, rules were meant to be broken. And why not break a few at once!

A white silky dress in the middle of fall. Some of you might resist this, but as I always say, when it comes to fashion – why not? Winter white has really become a fashion phenomen over the last couple of years, and I love that. It’s actually very cozy and elegant and pairs really well with the warmth (not physically) of the season. If you are trepidatious of weary light fabrics – both fabrically (is that a word?) and tonally, all you have to do is add a pattern. The classic pattern of this dress drew me to it. But, what I loved most – it can be worn for many occassions and through multiple seasons.

When it comes to fall fashion, dressing is really dependent on your location, but the best thing about fall, no matter where you live is LAYERS. You can easily add a sweater and boots to a dress if you live in a warmer climate. If you live where it’s chillier, add cozy socks to the boots, a tailored jacket over the sweater, and maybe a beautiful scarf and hat and your’re all set.

If I have said it once, I have said it a million times – fashion is about dressing for you. Wear what makes YOU comfortable and happy, no matter the season, no matter the style. Break the fashion rules if you need to. Who knows, you might inspire yourself, and probably others in the process.
