The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) hosted their annual awards soiree on February 22, 2026. The organization was founded in 1947 by the British Film Academy as a charity and membership group that promotes the art forms of moving images. Notable winners from this years awards included One Battle After Another and Sinners. While the Brits don’t love that the awards tend to favor American movies, they should be very proud of the elevated level of fashion that struts down the pre-event red carpet. I mean, what other major film or TV awards show can claim a real-life royal couple on their red carpet? I can’t think of one!
I’ve been a lifelong fan of the royals – the moral ones of course – and it excites me so much to see the entertainment, fashion and royal worlds collide at the BAFTA Awards. Without a doubt, Will and Kate, yes, the Prince and Princess, made my best dressed list. They know how to show up in the right way at the right time. Amidst turmoil in their family with Andrew, they showed up as a united front, looking elegant, cohesive and approachable, highlighting the modernism the monarchy is moving towards and the positive ways they are making an impact. Yes, fashion can say all of that and more!
