Another month, another table setting. Oh, if life could only be so whimsical! While our days may not be as carefree as that, you can set your space up to make it feel like it is. Last month, I showed you an elegant floral table setting, but this month, as we are in full swing of summer, I decided to put some pep into my table step. This tablescape (that’s a word, right?) is all about color, fun and lots of zing, zest and zigzags. 

So, what can I offer you in terms of decorating your table this month? Well, I would recommend you keep in mind the season. Summer is a time to be bold with color and have fun with pattern. This goes for your clothing, your home decor and your table settings too. Stripes and chevron (zigzag) are a great way to incorporate a bold pattern in a big way. Making sure there is a white stripe/zigzag in the mix can soften the look so it is not too over the top. To keep it clean, go with a simple white plate. However, to avoid being overly traditional, take that white plate up a notch and go for a square plate. Add a muted colored napkin, with a punchy napkin ring that has texture and movement, plus festive glassware (summer should be all about  fun drinks shouldn’t it?!), and your table is set. I can guarantee any guest you have over won’t be worried about what you are serving them when it comes with such a zingy table as a backdrop; so, since it’s summer, serve with a simple dish, a fruity cocktail, and enjoy!
