White Hot Summer

One summer staple all girls should have in their closet is a white skirt. Length: preferably just below the knew. Style: A-line. Why, you may ask, is this a must. The answer is simple, VERSATILITY! It can be dressed up or down, can be paired with a different top or jacket and look like a brand new outfit each time, and it’s clean and simple. I always get nervous in white because I’ve never been known to be the tidiest eater (what can I say, spills seek me out), but with a little extra caution I can stay looking fresh all day. And fresh is exactly what white signifies to me. If you are in a grungy city, it gives great contrast. If you are amid lush greenery it looks polished. Again, versatility!

I mentioned that a white skirt can easily transition from day to night…well, all you have to do is change your shoes, your top and/or your bag and you can have an entirely new outfit. Think about vacation and how much of a lifesaver that can be. Hello to more space in your luggage! That’s why I take my white skirt on every vacation. I know how much use I will get out of it. And when it gets dirty, I know the bleach is sitting at home waiting, and it won’t be long until it looks brand new once again.

This particular pairing was perfect for my recent visit to Cuba. It’s so hot and humid you literally feel as though you are melting. A skirt that blows in the breeze can help cool you off. A crop top, with my high-waisted skirt, still looked polished and didn’t show off too much skin, but gave me some extra space to breath (or should I say sweat). With a fun bag, that I added some ever trendy charms to, plus a comfy shoe, I was ready for a day pounding the pavement…and a nice convertible ride around the city. Two recommendations, outside of styling a white skirt; if you are in Cuba, you must walk the Malecon (along the water with great views of the city) and take a ride in a classic convertible. I lucked out with a pink one. It even matched my outfit! See, there’s that versatility again.
