After a week of vacation in lovely California (more to come on that in the next few weeks!), my Monday post got delayed to Tuesday, and then…Wednesday. But alas, I am back, and ready to talk JUMPSUITS! Are you as obsessed with them as I am? I started out with just one in my closet many years back, and now, well, there are more than I can count on two hands. What can I say, when I find something I like, I run with it.
Why do I like these pieces so much? Well, comfort is what comes to mind first. Who doesn’t love remembering the days of snuggling in your one-piece PJ’s as a kid (or an adult!). Jumpsuits evoke that for me, pure comfort. In addition, you can dress most of them up or down. They are perfect for the office, for a night on the town, or a Sunday spent at the farmer’s market. They are so versatile….just change your shoes, jewelry, jacket or purse and you get a whole new look.
What’s fun at the moment, is that these pieces are not your typical jumpsuits. You can find them with any length bottom, different style tops, and in patterns of all sorts. This particular one caught my eye because of the subtle floral pattern and the flouncy straps. So delicate, yet so durable. I’ve worn this countless times over the summer, and know it will carry me well into fall. Can you say booties and a sweater…wouldn’t that be a cute addition?

Now, if you are saying “well, I hear about jumpsuits, playsuits and rompers, and I don’t know the difference”…let me help!
- The technical definition of a jumpsuit is “a garment incorporating trousers and a sleeved top in one piece, worn as a fashion item, protective garment, or uniform.”
- A romper on the other hand is “a one-piece outer garment for adults, typically worn as overalls or as sports clothing.”
- While a playsuit is categorized as “an all-in-one stretchy garment for a baby or very young child, covering the body, arms, and legs.”
So, maybe not as interchangeable as you would think, but I reckon you could get away with using romper or jumpsuit (I do!). Playsuit it seems is reserved for the kiddos. But, like I said, putting on a one piece outfit just takes you back those days of being young and carefree. So, if you have one, go put it on! And if you don’t, check out some of my recommendations below.
