I may live in Chicago, a city of all seasons, but I admit quickly that winter is not my favorite season. It’s cold and dreary and forces us to stay inside more often than we would like. However, it’s not all bad, the winter season definitely has some perks. There’s lots of hot chocolate, ice skating, skiing, and best of all, great sweaters. As a girl who is constantly cold, even in the summer, I embrace sweaters of all kinds once winter time hits Chicago. Lately, my sweater motto has been “the chunkier, the better.” If you have to suffer through cold temps, you might as well be as cozy as possible, and with so many options out there, you can look good doing it too.
A chunky cable knit sweater isn’t only perfect for winter because it’s warm and cozy, it can also be worn with so many other pieces from your closet. Jeans and a cute jacket, tucked into a skirt, or as I prefer (and how I have worn it here), with leather pants (mine are from Commando and I am obsessed with how warm they are – plus they hold you in, in all the right places) and over the knee boots. Why stop there? It’s cold out right, so layer in the accessories! I like to add a great hat, funky sunnies, a blingy purse and gorgeous rose gold jewelry.
Speaking of rose gold, it is such a great color for winter! It complements skin that has not seen the sun in quite a while pretty well I must say. Plus, it’s sleek and sophisticated, but adds a touch of whimsy. It may seem trendy now, since it’s still new on the jewelry scene, but I think it’s a classic that won’t ever go out of style and worth investing in some great pieces, like my Wolfpoint watch.
