Last night was the biggest night of the year for those in the film industry. I don’t know if my taste in movies has changed as I have gotten older and my palette has widened, or if the movies nominated for Academy Awards this year were just more popular movies, so I was likelier to see them. Either way, I have to say, even for a girl who swoons over any awards show, they are more fun to watch when you have seen almost all of the movies. While I cannot say that I loved the endings of all those movies, I can absolutely say that I loved the awards show. Highlights were of course the opening number by Queen and Adam Lambert, a touching song performed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper and speeches from Regina King, Lady Gaga and Rami Malek.
It was also a pretty important night for people in the fashion industry! And when it comes to the red carpet, it really doesn’t matter what movies you’ve seen, or who you know…the fashion stands out all on its own. And what a red carpet the Oscars gave us last night! There was an incredible amount of gorgeous looks on the red carpet that were very ethereal and whimsical. I like that the red carpet fashion gave me this feeling, as that’s the way movies often times make me feel. It’s an escape from reality when you watch a film, and many times that how fashion is too. Trends on the red carpet included tulle, pastels, regal reds, blushing pinks, capes and pant suits. Choosing the best is a hard task, but someone has to do it. Below are my picks for best dressed at the 2019 Oscars.

You can’t talk about Oscar fashion without talking about the jewels. There are probably more bodyguards, guarding millions of dollars of diamonds, on the red carpet than there are celebrities. This year, the ladies seemed to go a little more subtle with jewelry (with the exception of Lady Gaga and that yellow diamond!), but that has not always been the case. With a lot of wow-worthy looks seen at the Oscars over the years it’s no surprise the jewels have been equally as stunning. And the lucky ladies wearing them don’t have to break the bank to look extra glamorous, as designers and jewelers are usually lining up to dress Oscar attendees. These borrowed pieces though definitely don’t boast a cheap price tag. Earlier this month HOLA! shared a list of the most expensive pieces of jewelry worn at the Academy Awards through the years, and I wanted to share it with you. I wonder what the jewels on the red carpet last night amount to, don’t you?

Signed with Style,
I thought the big bow thing was pretty interesting, and I had to laugh at how awkward some of the dresses made walking!

I know right! I think it’s funny to watch them shuffle their way across the carpet because they can’t walk. Beauty is pain I guess!
