Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true. Well, I have lots of fabulous fashion dreams and I love when they do come true. Like finding the perfect pair of spring pants, or an incredible pair of earrings. Sometimes those fashion finds make you want to skip down the yellow brick road – or at least strut your stuff on the sidewalk!
In fashion, one tip I can give you to help you get that “over the rainbow feeling” is to shop “local.” It’s fun to have pieces in your wardrobe that are unique and not something you likely will see a passerby wearing. Now local could be anything from flea markets, to craft shows (like this market, where I found my rainbow earrings) to small boutiques. It could also be online shops, like Etsy. Even if you don’t live in a town with a lot fun shopping options, you can find a lot out there. I personally love to take advantage of this while traveling. Finding small stores in towns I visit is like going on a treasure hunt, and guarantees when I go home, not everyone else will be wearing the same thing as me.
Fill your wardrobe with a mix of essentials from big box stores and cool finds from “local” ones. (Good way to mix high end and lower end items too.) It’s guaranteed to make your pieces stand out and your vision of dreams that fall somewhere over the rainbow come true. And while my dreams may not be exactly what Judy Garland was singing about, if birds fly over the rainbow, why, then oh why, can’t I?!
