My days of looking for shoes that only look good are gone. I went from wearing heels almost every day of my life (not a good choice, I pay for it now) to focusing on form and function. I need shoes that not only look fabulous, but make my feet feel good. In turn, they have to make me feel good too. I need shoes that help me be unstoppable, because even though my shoe wardrobe is changing, my lifestyle is not, and I am always on the go, go, go.
Vionic believes that when you are comfortable, you are unstoppable, and I could not agree more. As I’ve said before, I love fashion. I always have and assume I always will. It’s a form of self expression and creativity. While my fashion choices remain ME, as I have gotten a little older, I understand that comfort is a necessity. Whether it’s comfort in the sense that your fashion choices don’t hurt your body physically, or just comfort in how you look in them, it makes confidence soar. I think that is why I choose more classic pieces to put into my wardrobe now. I am more drawn to well made, good fitting pieces, that I know will be staples in my wardrobe for years to come. This doesn’t mean boring though! Some of the more simple items can always be made to pop with fun accessories and bold prints.
When I was younger, I often heard older people talk about “investing in their clothing.” I didn’t full get it until I realized I wanted a wardrobe that made me comfortable from head to toe, and pieces that would last more than a handful of wears. Brands like Vionic make this possible. Their shoes are stylish, ultra comfortable and the perfect companion to any look, from day to night. I get why pieces that cost a little more seem like an investment, but they are it’s well worth making. I have so many classics in my wardrobe that will last me years to come, and will keep me comfy and stylish along the way!
Remember to follow these rules, to make sure basic doesn’t equal boring:
- Buy accessories that accent basic looks. If you find your wardrobe consists of solid colors and seems drab, be sure to accent it with bright, funky jewelry.
- Buy basics that are high in quality, and more affordable bold pieces to pump up your wardrobe. If you find an amazing pair of jeans that are half your paycheck, but you know you’ll love them forever, realize that they will just as fabulous paired with a $20 white tee, than they would with a more expensive one.
- Buy shoes that make you unstoppable. Thankfully comfort for feet seems to be on trend, so soak it up while you can. Get comfortable tennis shoes you can pair with jeans and skirts, or a great wedge, that can carry you (literally) through the whole summer.
