Emerald green is a rich, warm color, sometimes referred to as “Imperial green” or “Paris green.” It symbolizes balance, harmony, wealth and royalty, and actually dates back to 1598 when it was first used to refer to a shade of gemstone. Often times hearing the world “emerald” brings to mind the Emerald City (Wizard of Oz) and the endless possibilities it brings, or the lush countryside of the Emerald Isle (Ireland). For me, it brings to mind classic, elegant fashions. It’s an eye-catching color that stands out on its own, but also pairs beautifully with pinks, tan neutrals, gold and black.
You may not suspect it right away, but emerald green is a color that can easily be worn during any season of the year. Picture a velvet emerald green dress at a New Years Eve party, or maybe an emerald green swimsuit with a belted waist worn on a sailboat in the middle of the ocean. It evokes luxury but also allows for a lot of versatility. When combined with a midi-skirt (a trend I told you I am loving this spring) and classic pleats it’s a must have in your closet. As you can clearly see, it’s already in mine!
Fashion is all about representing yourself. Match your outfit to the mood you feel that day, or the needs of the day. A lux looking emerald green skirt quickly becomes casual when paired with tennis shoes for running errands. Add a slick leather bomber jacket for chillier spring days. Pair it with a glitzy top and heels for a night out. Whatever the color is that comPLEATS your wardrobe, remember to just have fun with it!
