Yay, finally another awards show to watch and critique all the fashions! (I mean that in the most non-judgmental way.) The last awards show I can remember this year is the Grammy’s (which I got to go- see more on that here). With all the curve balls 2020 has thrown our way, it was nice to finally have a sense of pop culture normalcy with an awards show and all the fashion that goes along with it. The show was put together really nicely and had some great performances (yes, talking about you The Weeknd, Miss Miley & Lady Gaga – who was always masked!) The red carpet was sparse thanks to social distancing and many pre-taped events, so there was not a lot to ogle, but any little bit keeps this fashionista going. While most of the outfits could easily be described as whack (and I don’t mean that in a trendy, cool way), there were a handful of standouts that made my list for best dressed. A couple of those are even a little out there for me, but hey, everyone is coming out of months at home in comfy clothes, just ready to break free. Plus, it’s MTV, so in fashion, I would expect nothing less than eccentric.

In addition to rocking a fabulous masked look on the red carpet (we all need a bubble helmet in my opinion), Lady Gaga knocked it out of the park, or should I say Manhattan, during the awards show. Look after look was incredible from head to toe – head being a key point here. She didn’t miss the chance to stay safe in her mask, while looking incredible and delivering a strong message to viewers everywhere. Masks don’t have to be boring and basic, make them work with your wardrobe and save lives!
