To pick my best dressed list for this years Grammy Awards, I thought I would change it up and get up close and personal with the fashions of the night. To do that, I had to attend the show! And what an experience it was. It was like attending 12 concerts all in one, with a “backstage pass” to everything that goes on behind the scenes. I got to see all the stars and musicians mingle with one another, I saw the productions crews prepping for the upcoming acts and I saw firsthand how much impact music has on all of us – and the amount of jobs it provides people in Hollywood.

The Grammy’s took place at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. In a mix of big hotels, other arenas and the convention center, it’s a chaotic area on a normal day. Couple with the tragic passing of one of LA greatest treasures, Kobe Bryant, the morning of the Grammy’s it was a surreal scene. Everywhere I looked I saw people in black tie attire or a Kobe jersey. During the show his impact on the city of LA and it’s residents was definitely felt. He was a local heroic athlete, and a friend to many of the people in attendance. You can tell he will be missed.
As in true of showbiz anywhere, the show must go on, and so did the awards. There were several acts that really got the house rocking (Aerosmith with Run DMC was the first group of the night to get the audience to our feet), and lots of fun to be had celebrating the best in music over the last year. I love music, and don’t get me wrong thoroughly enjoyed that aspect of attending (I was lucky enough to do so as a seat filler, who got an amazing seat 20 rows from the state, amidst all the action, and never had to move). But, the real excitement for me came from watching all the lovely men and women gallivant around in their fabulous ensembles. It was a different perspective, since many times was stars wear to walk the red carpet is different from what they wear inside the show. I didn’t get to see all the carpet dresses, but can you tell you they all looked pretty darn great inside. (I did get to see the red carpet point of view for the 2018 SAG awards. See that post here!)
I would not be true to Sarah In Style if I didn’t report back on my picks for best dressed of the night. Most come from the red carpet, but some are from inside the venue. And more men made my list than normal, since I could see first hand how impeccably tailored and styled their looks were. So, let’s get the beat flowing and see the best looks of the night! (I must preface this list by saying – Grammy fashion seems weird on TV. It’s equally as weird in person. I saw a guy with a leather fringed face mask, one with his face painted like a skeleton and a girl with beads hanging all over her face. It’s definitely an event made to push the boundaries of ordinary fashion. I however, did not love most of those looks, so you won’t see them here.)
