Whether you learned it from The Wizard of Oz, Kermit the Frog, Kacey Musgraves or anyone or anywhere else, you’re probably familiar with rainbows symbolizing hope and positivity. Most people get quite excited when they spot one in the sky and think of it as a ray of hope after darkness, or a reminder to look for the good in life. It’s something our world needs now more than ever, and with rainbows everywhere these days – in stores, on apparel, on rugs, etc. – it seems that when we need that spark of positivity, and a burst of color, we can fit it into our life, even when it’s not in the sky.

To me, summer is all about color. It’s on full display with my wardrobe, in my home decor, and on my dining table. This month, I’m adding a ray of joy with rainbows in my dining decor! You can’t imagine sitting down to a meal at this table and not istantly feeling a little burst of positivty. That’s the rainbows at work!

This table is a rainbow connection, literally connecting you through dining with whoemever you invite to the table. On top of that, I’d also call it a little bit of a summer mashup. I say it in almost all of my Dining Decor posts, but I’ll say it again, it doesn’t have to be expensive or a lot of work to set a beautiful table. The only thing new in this whole ensemble is the rainbow placemants, which were all of maybe $10 at Hobby Lobby. Everything else was already in my decorating pantry (aka a shelf in my closet – that’s city living). I used a black and white stripe tablecloth (also a classic summer look) to balance, and act as a chic backdrop to all the color. This table fully welcomed decorating with all colors under the rainbow, so a green napkin tied with black and white ribbon adds a cute little bow detail to an already beautiful rainbow (see what I did there?), a pink flamingo stirrer adds an element of summer, bright and beautiful flowers add dimension and life to the table, and a hidden tie-dye peace sign adds another element of positivity and hope – you can never have too many of those.

Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream, really do come true. Start small and set those dreams in motion with your dining decor and a happy summer tablescape. Make a rainbow connection while dining, and let that trickle into other parts of your life.
