If I asked you to raise your hand if you were tired of the skinny jean/pant trend, would you? I know I sure would! Yes, I still own a lot of them, and still wear them quite often, but I am getting bored with them. Let’s be honest, unless you are a super slender gal, they aren’t always the most flattering, and on the comfort scale, I would say they fall LOW. Who likes hiking their pants up every time they bend down? Not you? Me either! (P.S. Good trick I learned here. Take in the waist band! It makes a world of difference and you never need a belt.)
I am glad to see other trends coming into play with pants. The flare leg is fun, a nice straight leg is very versatile, and the high-waisted wide leg is just darn comfortable. I was in California on a trip with my family over my birthday last month, and my parents told me I could pick out a few gifts when we went shopping. As soon as I saw these pants, I knew I needed them in my life. Trying them on just confirmed it, and I started singing Happy Birthday to myself!
Some people worry about wearing wide-leg trousers, or high-waisted ones, thinking it will envelop them and you won’t see their shape. Definitely does not have to be the case. Look at the top I am wearing for example. It’s a bodysuit that shows quite a bit of skin and is not overly baggy. I think it still gives me shape, but allows me to balance the look. Quite covered on bottom, a little more open on top. I also love these pants with a simple white tee. I would always recommend wearing your top tucked in with high-waisted pants, as that will help to keep you looking polished and put together, not to mention slimmer. If you worry that a wide-leg pant or high-waisted pant will make you look short…just wear a heel! Don’t shy away from a purchase because something is too long or too big. (Tailoring is very underrated but usually an easy way to fix a piece you love!) Add a killer pair of sunnies (that help a good cause), a great bag (that won’t break the bank in this case) and you’re off…to somewhere you can guarantee you won’t be hiking up your pants all day long. ;)
Fashion is all about making yourself comfortable. Find looks that work for you, that let you express yourself and that make you feel at ease. I really do believe the saying is true, “the better you feel, the better you look.”
