I am not sure how it happened, but it’s already 2018. It seems that just yesterday, I was an 8th grader listening to everyone talk about the millenium and the world coming to end. Thankfully that never happened! But, I do know many people who had canned soup for dinner for years to come. And now, 18 years later, here we are. Almost at the end of another decade. For me, 2017 was a year of exploring. I explored new topics with my blog, new projects at work, and new places in my travels (like Cuba, remember that!). So as I look to 2018, while I don’t know for certain what will come, I can only imagine it will bring a lot more exploring, and a lot more adventure.
One thing I do know for certain is that people all over the world today are talking about resolutions. People are eating their veggies, going to the gym, putting away cigarettes and swear words. I mean, that’s what we assume to be a resolution right – making yourself better by getting rid of something bad? Well, a resolution is technically “a firm decision to do or not to do something”. So, instead of aiming to just eliminate bad from your life (which you should do, don’t get me wrong), I think this new year, 2018, we should focus on making change for good. Our world needs it, don’t you think?
How can you do this? Make a list of things you want in life in 2018. Things you want to do better. Places you want to visit. Activities you want to explore. Maybe it’s as simple as spending more time with family. Maybe you decide to gossip less. Maybe you want to volunteer more often. Maybe you want to travel to new places. Maybe you want to try new foods. Whatever you do, resolve to make it your best year yet! Happy New Year!
