If you have followed along with my blog, you likely are well-aware of my obsession over red carpet fashion. For as long as I can remember, I have loved awards seasons and all the glitz and glamour that comes with it. While I enjoy watching the actual awards shows, most of the magic, for me, happens on the red carpet, where we get to see our favorite screen stars strut their stuff in beautiful designer duds. Well, this past Sunday, I was not in my living room glued to E! as I normally am on an awards show night. I was ON THE RED CARPET!! I actually got to go to the SAG Awards and watch the magic of the red carpet unfold in person. (It pays to have a sister that’s a SAG member!) The fashion and pop culture junkie in me had a field day! It was such an amazing experience. Who am I kidding, that is an understatement, it was a dream come true!

We arrived on the carpet right as the hosts and journalists were taking their places. Final makeup touch ups were happening (that’s right Giuliana – I saw those three makeup artists primping you!), cameras were being positioned and spotlights were turning on. Before long, the stars began to arrive. Somehow we lucked out with seats directly across from the photographers/paparazzi — prime viewing! (Maybe you saw me on E! this year. My mom did! And I guess now I can technically say I was on E! for an awards show red carpet. Just realized that!) We got to see each and every star as they posed for picture after picture. It was the perfect place to drool over all of the fabulous gowns the ladies were wearing, and all of the handsome men (I am talking about you Justin Hartley!). I don’t normally get star struck if I see a celeb out in the real world, but seeing all of them in one place, dressed to the nines, was quite overwhelming. I longed to be one of the reporters, asking them all about their fashion choice for the night, their current film projects, and well, life in general!

I am happy to report most of the fashion looks even more incredible in person. I know stylists choose pieces that will photograph well, but seeing them in person is a whole other story. The sequins shine brighter, the jewels bling more, and the ruffles flounce, for real. Seeing all of this in person makes narrowing down my top looks much more difficult, but for you, I did it! (Photos below.) I also had to share some fun photos from the day, just because. I mean, it’s not every day you see the entire cast of This Is Us in one place, or that Susan Sarandon waves to you. If you are like my friends, your top question is likely “who were you most excited to see?” The answer you would think would be someone like Reese Witherspoon or Goldie Hawn. Don’t get me wrong that was fun, and they looked gorgeous. But my true favorites of the night were Gabrielle Carteris and Lonnie Chavis. Gabrielle was on the original 90210 which I watched as a kid with my mom and still adore to this day. I found out from my sister she is actually the President of SAG. I told her she looked beautiful and she couldn’t have been sweeter with her gracious smile and thank you. And Lonnie plays the youngest Randall on This Is Us. He is just the cutest little kid! He has a mega watt smile, great style and can bust a move like no other.

I could probably go on and on — a lot was packed into those few hours on the SAG Awards red carpet. But for your sake, I won’t! I will leave you with the fact that it was a great day, full of great fashion, and a memory I will have forever. And I’ll hope to bring you more from the red carpet next year. Now, in the meantime, who can get me on the Oscars red carpet?! 😉
