Feeling The Fashion Blues

Having you been feeling blue lately? No, I don’t mean depressed. I mean, have you been loving blue fashion pieces lately? I have been on a kick with blue without really noticing it. I find that more and more of my closet tends to have blue, navy, denim and chambray in it. I think it all started when I went to Europe a couple summers ago and put together two weeks worth of coordinating outfits. I needed a color scheme, so navy it was. It seemed fitting for time in the Mediterranean. And I think it has stuck as a new favorite.

Maybe it’s because it’s an easy color. Blue tends to go with a lot and can act as a nice neutral when needed. You can mix and match it with skirts of many colors, white pants, red pants, patterned pants. Shoes, well again, endless options there. And of course, you can dress it up or down. Since I travel so much, I think versatile pieces have become a pretty important staple in my closet. I need things that can mix and match quite easily, so I don’t have to worry about over-packing. Let’s be real though, I still do that. But my bluesy color scheme definitely helps.

I think one of my favorite ways to feel the blues lately is with chambray. I LOVE chambray. It turns any fashion frown upside down. It’s a great fabric/color on a shirt, like I have here. Perfect in a loose fitting pant. And probably my favorite of all, in a dress. It just says “summer” and makes me happy. Here I paired my bell sleeve chambray top with white jeans (FYI, I have recently bought new jeans at Talbots, and am really liking the fit – they are trendy, but still comfortable and they allow you to move without flashing your rear), some classic silver sandals and the cutest bag ever. You probably guessed that it’s from Kate Spade, because duh, she just has the most fun bags you’ll ever see. The bag is perfect for this look since it adds such a fun pop of color to an otherwise simple ensemble. So tell me, are you feeling the fashion blues too?
