Beat The Monday Blues

It’s Monday and for a lot of people that brings along a serious case of the Monday blues. Personally, I try not to let the start of the work week bring me down. It’s probably in part because I love my job, but I think a bigger part of it is just mental.  A while back, someone at work said to me, on a Tuesday, I can’t wait for Friday, and it got me thinking that we wish away so much time during the week to get to the weekend. How many times have you walked into work on Monday only to be greeted with “ugh it’s Monday.” Bad thoughts from the start never turn out good in my opinion. I think if you start the week thankful for it, and take each day as it comes, that is bound to change your mentality and will also spread to others. Soon enough, the Monday blues will be a thing of the past. You can think of it like George Strait does, as he famously sang, “I ain’t here for a long time, I’m here for a good time. So bring on some sunshine, to hell with the red wine, pour me some moonshine. When I am gone, put it in stone, he left nothin’ behind. I ain’t here for a long time, I’m here for a good time.”

Now, if you really feel the need to keep some moody blues in your Monday, may I suggest the best way possible – BLUE shoes of course! Not just your average blue shoes either; I am talking about a whimsical pair with some serious sass. Shoes can be such a statement maker and sometimes the entire focus of your outfit, so why not invest in some funky ones that make you smile, any day of the week! These have a classic black and white striped sole, textured flowers along the top and a heel that gives height, but is small and chunky enough to allow you to walk comfortably. I paired them with the perfect dress for summer (it truly would work for any occasion during summer – and can transition to fall too), a straw clutch (in black so it doesn’t compete) and some fun, chunky bracelets with hints of blue.

Adding a fun blue shoe is just one way of taking the traditional Monday blues and turning them around. To me, what I wear puts a lot of influence on how I feel, which is why more often than not I dress up. I find the saying “when you look good, you feel good” to really be true for me. However, you could do anything to push away the Monday blues; maybe wear a bright top, carry a funky purse, make a yummy new lunch, or treat yourself to mid-afternoon snack – just think of different ways to make the beginning of your week just as wonderful as the end of your week! And remember what George said, “I ain’t here for a long time, I’m here for a good time.”
