Taking an outfit from day to night may seem obsolete in times of Covid, but there will a day (hopefully soon) when our lives return back to normal and we will again need versatility in our wardrobes to help us get from the start of the day running errands, into work and then onto a fun cocktail party. Now is the time to shop our own closets and play dress-up with what we have. Pick a favorite piece from your wardrobe and think about how you’ll be able to style it from dawn until dusk. Take pictures and make your own “stylist handbook” that you reference and pull from ideas from at a moments notice. Heck, right now you may just end changing throughout the day moving from room to room at home, pretending you’re headed somewhere new! But, when the time comes, and you are ready to dress for the outside world again, you will be all set!
I am a fashion girl at heart, always have been and always will be. Even if I am the only one seeing my outfit that day, it’s still fun for me to pick out my clothes and actually get dressed. It sets my mood for the day! Right now, I am loving pops of color, especially bold jewel tones. In the dead of winter dreariness, a pop of color can make a big difference in mood. For this particular outfit, a shirt with a little bling steps the look up even more, with another, albeit more glitzy pop. A simple vintage tuxedo jacket adds sleek polish and winter warmth. And here is where the fun can really be found…accessories!
Accessories are really the key to transforming any look from day to night (or one activity to another). You’ll notice with this look, the core pieces stay the same, all that changes is my shoes, purse, jewelry and other accessories. I can now go from walking to work or running errands in my tennis shoes and shortLOVE Wonder carry-all bag, to a meeting or work lunch in my heeled boots and sleek shoulder bag, to a night on the town in my glitzy pumps, matching clutch and bold jewels. The real kicker here, all of the items I needed fit into that same shortyLOVE carry-all bag. So I can easily tote with me what I’ll need and look chic doing so. (The bonus to having all the looks in one bag is that you can mix and match as you need to throughout the day.)
If your life is starting to resemble normalcy again you may be able to take these tips and apply them today (safely of course, I am not recommending big cocktail parties). And if not today, file them away as you dream of looks you can build from your own wardrobe for the future. When that day comes it’s guaranteed it will feel like a fashion field trip!
