Well now, I have to admit, this isn’t really true at all. I am enjoying my vacation far too much to miss my own bed. However, I know that after sixteen days away, coupled with a work trip immediately after I return, that my own bed is going to be a warm welcome once I am able to crawl back into it.
My bedroom is my little sanctuary and a peaceful place for — when it doesn’t look like my closet blew up that is! I am quite proud of my little peaceful. I had a vision from the minute I moved into my current place and this room is a complete reflection of that. I had an abundance of ideas, so many of which were made possible, and brought to life, with a lot of DIY help from my mom and dad. { I sure am lucky to have crafty parents, and thankful for those genetics! 🙂 }
I sadly can’t tell you where to get much in this room, since so much of it was handmade. But, I think that is why I love it so much, it truly is just mine. My dressers are vintage and were my grandparents. I love knowing a piece of them is with me and a part of my daily life. My Los Angeles sign was a print I picked up at the Beverly Hills Hotel, then I used one of their palm print bags and a coral ribbon to make the mat. My parrot pillow is from The Land of Nod, however, I did have my mom add the pom-poms and the eye decal. My blue bedspread and blue shams are made from velvet curtains that I fell in love with. The frame on my dressers with all the bling pins, I made that! That was a project that took some time — collecting vintage pins is a task — but was so much fun to make. My headboard and nightstands are big ticket items for this room, and those two are results of some great DIY efforts. My headboard was build by my dad and my parents help me put it together. It is very large, so it was a group effort for sure. My nightstands were something I dreamed of, but struggled to find exactly what I wanted. So, I found a two kitchen cabinets at Pottery Barn Outlet and voila, my dad helped me create the beauties I own today! He added a base, legs, a top, molding, mirrors on the doors, sides and top, and detailed molding on the front. They turned out exactly as I pictured in my head, and I still smile every time I see them, even 4 years later.

I can tell you about my bedding! My coral duvet and shams are from Trina Turk. (I already mentioned the blue ones.) And my sheets, oh boy, I do have a slight obsession with them, and have found some really fun ones.
