If ever there was a place that was me in a nutshell, I think The Confidante in Miami Beach is that place. First of all, it’s in a sunny, tropical location, which I just love. Second of all, it fits my design aesthetic to a tee. Miami Beach and South Beach are famous for their Art Deco buildings, and The Confidante screams Art Deco the second you pull into the driveway. The outside is a gorgeous white stucco with a bold baby-blue stripe running down one of the two towers. From both the street-side, and the beach side, it’s a southern Florida palace.
It gets even better once you actually step foot in the hotel, with mid-century modern pieces everywhere you turn. They really have evoked the feeling you would have should you have visited in the 1960’s. Tropical fabrics and patterns adorn the beautiful furniture throughout. From the lobby to the guest room, it’s just stunning!
And believe it or not, it get’s even better as you travel back out of the hotel, to the pools and the beach. The pools are a lush paradise, flanked by poppy umbrellas and cabanas. Some cabanas even carry on the mid-century furniture you find indoors. As you continue out to the beach, you are even more awed, with pastels galore. The beach chairs and umbrellas are all done in a cabana stripe, in pink, blue and yellow. Again, you feel like you are in Miami in the 1960’s.
This hotel just felt like me. All of the things they have incorporated into the space, are designs that I have always loved and that I incorporate into my own home. I love cabana stripes and tropical prints, I have a collection of mid-century furniture that I will never part with, and I love mixing the old with the new. I really wanted to ask if I could just move in!
I have to say, not only is the hotel adorable, it is clean, in a perfect location and has great restaurants. If you are headed to Miami, or need an idea for a weekend away, I cannot recommend this little oasis enough. You will not only have a great place to stay, but you will take a step back into a very elegant 1960’s Florida.
