If you have been reading my blog for more than a couple posts, you probably are well aware of my love for all things tropical (as seen here and here to name a few places). Well, when I was out running errands before my trip to Cuba in June and came across this dress, you can guess where my jaw went. To the floor! It has palm print, pineapples, ruffles, a peek a boo shoulder and is a wrap dress, which is so flattering. I think I hit the jackpot with this one. And I didn’t have to win the jackpot to purchase it. It was a great dress for a night out to the amazing Tropicana while in Havana. I was a little hot since it’s about 1,000 degrees there with 200% humidity. But, the ruffles flowed in the breeze and I fit in perfectly with the outdoor theater and bright Cuban colors. Since Chicago isn’t exactly Cuba in terms of weather, the long sleeves have proved useful on chilly summer nights, so I have gotten great use of it back in the states too. It’s perfectly dressed up with a cute laced heel, or nicely dressed down with a flat sandal. (I recently wore it with these and loved the look!)
Touching back on the Tropicana….it was my one must while I was in Cuba, and I was so thrilled I got to see it. Such an amazing show, highlighting the Cuban culture. The music is fantastic, the costumes are just as colorful and outrageous as you would expect, and the outdoor theater just adds the extra touch to the ambiance. It truly felt like stepping back in time, to the era when all the Hollywood elite would flock to Cuba. If you will be in Havana, you must see it. It seems pricey compared to everything else there, but it is well worth the money! Plus, you are supporting the local culture, get a great show, and some yummy rum to drink while you watch.

(P.S. The dress is on sale now. You are in luck if you like it! I always seem to buy before the sales happens. Not sure how that works out!)
