As awards season comes to an end I’m left with just a few words – HOLY COW! Yes, my words may be only rated PG, but they come with R rated impact. This past year has been a great year for movies and an even more incredible one for fashion. While we saw some remakes of older films, we also saw a lot of original new movies. We saw some of our favorite actors of all time on the screens, and we also got to see many newcomers make their mark. The same seems to be true for everything the stars have worn on the red carpets this award show season. The fashions at the 2020 Oscars has really the “cherry on top,” or should we say, the butter on top of the movie theater popcorn.
Everyone looked so elegant, glamorous and classy – both the women and the men. I think the Oscars should be all about old Hollywood glamour, and I loved seeing that come out in full force on the red carpet this year. The 2020 Oscars felt a bit like the 1920’s Oscars (even though they weren’t quite around for another few years). There were, as there always are, many trends among the attendees. Lots of sparkle of course, but also more “buttoned up” sophistication. (Leaving a little to the imagination is always on trend.) Bold sleeves and skirts were seen on many, as well as even bolder statement jewelry. And the colors, on top of many sultry nude styles, they were also very rich and warm. Overall, the stars were truly shining, in incredibly flattering and beautiful looks.
I know I say “it was hard to pick the top looks” in many of my best dressed lists, but this year was definitely the hardest by far, and the Oscars maybe the hardest overall. (Which is why the list is so long.) As I watched all the red carpet arrivals and interviews, I kept gasping, stunned again and again by each person stepping onto the carpet. Let’s let the stars sparkle…
Here are my picks for best dressed at the 2020 Oscars!
