While I don’t love the cold weather that winter brings, I do love a lot of the fun seasonal fashions we can wear during this time. Plaid is one of my favorites in winter – it’s so cozy and just evokes warmth, which is a welcome thing when the temps start dropping. Plaids come in all colors these days, but a classic red plaid is traditional and timeless and each winter you can guarantee you will be in style wearing it. I don’t wear red often (I looked in my closest and literally could not find one solid red item for winter wear) but it’s fun to incorporate it into my wardrobe around the holidays and mix it up a little bit. Since it’s not a color I would boldy wear all over, I am happy to add it in with accessories and lipstick.
A basic pair of jeans (flare are back in style!), a ruffled black turtleneck and a leather moto jacket are staples that should be in all closets. You can wear them in multiple seasons, and in multiple ways. Accessories can add pops of color and trendy elements to this classic look. A plaid hair bow, bold red lips and a pair of red patent loafers (also back in style – can we say hello to 90’s fashion?!) make this ensemble perfect for a cold weather day that calls for both comfort and style.
With just a few fun pops of color, you can easily turn a basic, and somewhat bland outfit look bold, and brand new. The key to this look is really that all of the pieces on their own are pretty timeless, and can easily be mixed and matched with others, but look great together too.
